Hello everyone,

Its been such a long time since I've uploaded anything, but I have my reasons! Alot has happened since I've last updated, and I'm very excited for the busy months ahead! First off I've returned to finish schooling, which sadly means less time for art, but if I want to get a bachelor in arts degree, I don't have much of a choice. So I hope that degree makes up for that for all the time I've been stuck in a classroom haha.

In other news, I've been selected as 1 of 6 finalists in the "Girlfriend of The Year Award". No its not a competition on who can please their boyfriend the most (wouldn't even qualify-don't have a boyfriend), its a prize by an Australian magazine called "Girlfriend". Its about empowering women to achieve their dreams by funding money and mentoring one woman a year to achieve their goals. Out of over 600 entries across the country I've been very lucky to have been selected. Here is a bit of the article from the mag about what I want to achieve:

-----"Sienna is using her passion for art to help Aborigines living in remote communities.

"I've wanted to be an artist for as long as I can remember, but it's quite difficult. Financially, it's a big investment, and you have to put in a lot of work before you begin to get anything out of it, but I've always loved it. Some of my family is Aboriginal, and hearing all about their culture has made me really want to help them, especially those who live in remote communities and are affected by poverty. My dream is to combine my love of art and my desire to help Aboriginal communities; it's a win-win situation. I want to go to those remote communities and paint the people there. I'd like to exhibit the paintings to bring more awareness to Aboriginal poverty, and use the profits from the sale of the paintings to fund books for the children, food, clothing and educational supplies. That's why it's so fantastic to be nominated for Girlfriend of the Year – the prize could be used for all that!--------------

The prize money is $5000, which is awesome! Would really appreciate if you could help out, the vote takes no more than 5 mins. All you have to do is fill out your details basically and select my name "Sienna".

In other news the reason I haven't updated for a while is that since January, I'm excited to say, I'm illustrating a children's book! To be honest, becoming an illustrator wasn't part of the plan for my art career, but I think its a great opportunity to grow and learn more about myself as a budding artist. I can't tell you much about the book since I'm under contract, but it's going to be a beautiful book, the author is truly a lovely person. Hopefully it will be out by the end of this year or beginning of next year. The book is very long, so I've been painting ALOT these past few months, its just such a shame I can't show you the pages yet. I'm allowed to have 3 illustrations in my gallery, so I'm going to choose wisely before uploading them. I don't think it will be released in Australia, only in America for now I think, but if it does well, we might bring it over here!

My name is Sienna, and I am a 16 year old artist, although most of the work in my gallery at the moment is from 15 and under. I do graphite drawings and oil paintings mainly. I've recently started homeschooling so I can do what I love more often. My dream is to one day win the Archibald Portrait Prize, but firstly the closest dream at the moment is to have my own solo exhibition.
To be honest, I'm one of the biggest perfectionists under the sun, I tend to try too hard at making everything the best it can be, which is mentally exhausting sometimes.
Portraits are what I truly love the most, to capture the essence and life of a person is just thrilling and exciting for me. To create a story or an idea from painting a face, so that when a stranger looks at it, they'll feel moved, touched or be able to see the life/thoughts of that person, not just a painting. I hope to achieve that in my art.

I am not open for commissions and will not be for a long time, so please don't ask, if I ever become open I'll notify through my journal. :)
